However, the organisation closely mirrors the findings of its European equivalent (NCAP), which gave the vehicle a maximum five-star rating – so there’s every likelihood it’ll do just as well here. Certainly, the most recent iteration features numerous protective technologies, such as multiple airbags, Lane-keep Assist and Automatic City Braking. And the all-new Scala will at least match this in terms of its safety provision.

Performance All three members of the Scala family are fitted with a 1.5-litre 110kW turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which produces a peak torque 250Nm. Available with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission the Scala is FWD and returns a combined fuel-consumption figure of 5.0 litres per 100 km.
